Caring for our Watersheds

Congratulations to members of the WWEB Patrol for their successful entry in the ‘Caring for our Watersheds’ competition. Our project titled ‘Stop Organic Waste going to Landfill was placed 6th out of 10 entries in the competition. WWEB Patrol members, staff and an enthusiastic parent enjoyed a fantastic day at the Little Desert Nature Lodge earlier in the month. Students presented their movie which explained the project to students from the 9 other schools, judges, teachers, parents and grandparents. A terrific effort. Thanks must also go to parents who assisted with the project by completing our Organic Waste Survey last term. Data from this survey was included in the presentation.  Thanks also to every student and teacher in the school, for persisting with the weighing of chook buckets before they were emptied. In Term 3 we stopped 167 kilograms of organic waste going to landfill by composting, worm farming or feeding the waste to the chooks. Thanks also to Angela and L2 for assisting other students with the weighing of buckets. If you did not complete our waste survey earlier in the year, but you would still like to, please complete and return to school.
